I particularly love this track because it was me and my mate, Gordy Goudie, and he's my closest friend. He's always been in great bands - he's been in Echo and the Bunnymen for the past seven years - and he's a big Celtic supporter too. This was our first new Celtic song that we wrote together. We were trying to relay about how we feel about going to the game and how we felt when we were younger. We tried to get a melody that would tap in to what we're saying in the lyrics. It got a play at the stadium and there was a really positive reaction to it. It's definitely one of my favourites of the new batch.
lyrics
Well there are days when things don't go my way
The only letters I get are the bills I can't play
But then I look out my window
It puts a smile on my face
To see the Celtic supporters on the way to the game
And I pick up my scarf
And meet my dad the gates
And it's a feeling that no one will ever take away
And it's Celtic, and it's Celtic
In the green white and gold
Oh Celtic oh Celtic
You'll never walk alone
And it's Celtic, and it's Celtic
Wherever I may roam
When I see Paradise then I know that I'm home
Well everyone has all their hopes and their dreams
All the things they want that are just out of reach
But nothing compares to where I am now
Walking up London road in the heart of this crowd
And it's Celtic, and it's Celtic
In the green white and gold
Oh Celtic oh Celtic
You'll never walk alone
And it's Celtic, and it's Celtic
Wherever I may roam
When I see Paradise then I know that I'm home
I know that I'm home
When I walk through those gates
And all the glory days and the years
Of the good and the great
Like Johnstone and Larsson, McNeill and McStay
And it's Celtic, and it's Celtic
In the green white and gold
Oh Celtic oh Celtic
You'll never walk alone
And it's Celtic, and it's Celtic
Wherever I may roam
When I see Paradise then I know that I'm home
