I was lucky enough to get to know the Lions and they're just a great bunch of guys. And through that, it dawned on me that you never heard any songs about Lisbon and that great team. It actually started out after a night in the pub with me, my wife Sharon, and Bertie Auld, and we decided to make a record, which turned out to be Best Day of our Lives. I was working with my songwriting parter, Steve Robson, at the time, and we came up with the structure of the song and then put the lyrics together. It's one of my favourite songs because it also encompasses Celtic.
